Free mileage log vs paid driver cockpit. Stride is genuinely free — the honest question is what free leaves out. Facts verified August 2026.
Stride is a good free app: automatic GPS mileage, manual expense and income logging, IRS-ready reports, no paid tier at all (it's funded by an insurance marketplace). GigReal costs money — from $4.99/month — and earns it on the things a free logbook can't do: it imports your earnings from 11+ gig platforms automatically, judges each offer before you accept it (Trip Identifier), shows your true hourly after expenses, and answers questions about your own numbers with AI. The math for a regular driver: declining one $0.90/mile trip a month more than pays the subscription.

Plenty of GigReal drivers started on Stride. Free is the right first step — outgrowing it is the sign you're taking the work seriously.
