The best days and hours to drive, according to the data
Every driver has a theory about the best time to drive. Our June 2026 Earnings Index has receipts: measured by real hourly pay — net of expenses, across all online hours — Thursday and Friday beat every other day.
Real hourly by day of week
Why Thursday beats the weekend
Weekends have the most demand — and the most drivers. Real hourly is a supply-and-demand ratio, and Thursday and Friday catch rising demand before the weekend supply flood. Saturday's big gross nights often dilute into ordinary real-hourly days once the extra competition and dead time are counted.
Days are measurable. Hours are personal.
Hourly patterns vary too much by market to give one national answer honestly — an airport town, a bar district, and a commuter suburb peak at different times. The reliable method: drive your normal mix for two weeks, then compare your real hourly by shift in your dashboard. Your own data beats anyone's averages — including ours.
Rule of thumb from the June data: if you can only add one shift a week, make it Thursday.
